Panelists, U.S. Rep. Schweikert to Discuss
WASHINGTON, DC (June 7, 2017)–Evaluating and effectively launching blockchain technology will be the topic of a June 23 event at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Washington, DC office, featuring keynote speaker Rep. David Schweikert of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, co-chair of the Congressional Blockchain Caucus.
A panel consisting of information technology, industry, and legal professionals will discuss blockchain technology basics, blockchain legislation and oversight, information security and privacy developments, and industry applications in healthcare and financial services. The panel includes Jim O’Hare, a partner in Nelson Mullins’ Boston office who represents technology-based companies, their boards of directors, and investors in corporate and technology matters, including software, internet, and information technology products and services.
The "blockchain" is a distributed, cryptographically protected transaction record, essentially a shared ledger or database that keeps track of financial or physical assets. The evolving technology has applications for industries that maintain large amounts of data, including financial institutions, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and healthcare organizations.
