Nelson Mullins’ Charles Mercer Inducted
into American College of Tax Counsel
RALEIGH (June 13, 2017)–Charles H. Mercer, Jr., a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Raleigh office, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel.
Mr. Mercer serves as a lawyer and advisor to corporations, partnerships, and individuals. He advises and represents companies on state and local tax litigation and planning matters; handles a range of commercial, regulatory, and tax litigation matters; represents clients on economic development issues; and counsels companies and individuals regarding the handling of sensitive business matters.
Fellows nominated for membership undergo a rigorous screening process prior to being elected into membership, according to the organization. The College provides recommendations to Congress and the Internal Revenue Service for improving the nation’s tax laws and the way that they are interpreted and administered. It also provides input into the judicial system by filing “friend of the court” briefs in selected tax cases. Click here for more on the organization and its membership.
